The Assistance for Abatement of Pollution, financial support for setting up of Common Effluent Treatment Plants and National Air Quality Monitoring Programme implemented in association with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) / Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) are the important schemes aimed at pollution control. Question raised in Lok Sabha on Water pollution, 15/12/2015. To undertake programmes/ schemes for improvement of water and air quality, the Ministry provides ‘Assistance for Abatement of pollution’ and financial support for setting up of Common Effluent Treatment Plants. Question raised in Lok Sabha on Poaching of Tigers, 15/12/2015. State-wise details of tiger death across the country, as reported by States (upto 21 November, 2015) are at Annexure-I. The Government of India through the National Tiger Conservation Authority / Project Tiger has taken a number of steps for protection of tiger and other wildlife interalia, including steps to prevent poaching, and to curb other illegal acts are at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Conservation of Lakes, 15/12/2015. The State wise details of amount sanctioned and released to the State Governments so far for undertaking various projects for conservation of lakes are given in Annexure-I. Under the NWCP/NPCA, an amount of 145.65 crore has so far been released to the concerned State Governments for undertaking various conservation activities in 80 identified wetlands. Question raised in Lok Sabha on Cases of Diabetes, 11/12/2015. A statement showing State/UT-wise number of cases detected for Diabetes during 2014-15 and 2015-16 (Till October 2015) under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) is enclosed at Annexure-I. A Statement showing State/UT-wise release and utilisation of funds under NPCDCS for the last three years and the current year is at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Malnutrition among women and children, 11/12/2015. As per National Family Health Survey -3 (2005-06), 54.5% under five children belonging to Scheduled Tribes are underweight, 53.9% are stunted and 27.6% are wasted. However, as per the Rapid Survey on Children (RSoC), 2013-14, commissioned by Ministry of Women and Child Development, 36.7% under five children belonging to Schedule Tribes are underweight, 42.3% are stunted and 18.7% are wasted, which is a reduction from the previous NFHS-3 levels.
