Question raised in Lok Sabha on artificial recharge to ground water, 13/08/2015. Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has prepared a conceptual document entitled “Master Plan for Artificial Recharge to Ground Water in India” during the year 2013, which envisages construction of 1.11 crore rain water harvesting and artificial recharge structures in the Country, at an estimated cost of Rs. 79,178 crores to harness 85 BCM (Billion Cubic Metre) of water, in an area of 9,41,541 sq.km by harnessing surplus monsoon runoff to augment ground water resources.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on construction/renovation of dams, 13/08/2015. Central water Commission (CWC) under this ministry maintains ‘National Register of Large Dams (NRLD)’. As per NRLD, there are 4857 completed and 314 under construction large dams in the country. The state-wise/river-wise list of large dams completed and under construction is at Annexure-I & II respectively.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on allocation of power from UMPPs, 13/08/2015. Four UMPPs, viz, Sasan in Madhya Pradesh, Mundra in Gujarat, Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Tilaiya in Jharkhand have been awarded to the successful bidders so far. Mundra and Sasan UMPP have been fully commissioned. The status of awarded UMPPs is at Annex-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) for water and sanitation, 12/08/2015. State Governments/ULBs have implemented JnNURM projects in PPP mode. The details of said 44 projects implemented in PPP mode are furnished at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on International Emission Norms, 11/08/2015. Different countries have laid down different emission and fuel standards for vehicles. The emission and fuel standards adopted by some countries are given in Annexure- I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Number of Wetlands, 11/08/2015. 115 wetlands in 24 States and 2 Union Territories have been identified for conservation and management under the scheme of National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-systems (NPCA). The State-wise list of these wetlands is given in Annexure.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Pollution by Cement Industries, 11/08/2015. The cement industries have been categorized as highly polluting industries by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The main pollutants emitted from cement industries include Particulate Matter, SulphurDioxide (SO2)and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2).

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Use of Clean Fuel, 11/08/2015. The universalisation of Bharat Stage (BS) -IV norms will reduce sulphur content of the fuel to 50 ppm and the implementation of BS-V / BS-VI emission norms will further reduce the sulphur content to 10 ppm and will improve the ambient air quality.
