JAIPUR: The Supreme Court has allowed laying of underground water supply pipelines through the Chambal Ghariyal Sanctuary in Kota to provide drinking water to Bhilwara.

The World Bank-aided project worth Rs 1,363 crore would supply water to Bhilwara city from the Chambal river in Kota and would require an underground pipeline through the national wildlife sanctuary for 16 km.

Jaipur: Former environment minister Maneka Gandhi visited Jaitpur area in the Pali district on Sunday as she was invited by the farmers to take up the issue of Bandi river, which is getting polluted by industrial waste and making agricultural land infertile.

Chief Secy Asked To Submit Compliance Report Within Two Weeks
A central empowered committee (CEC) constituted by the Supreme Court condemned the Rajasthan government for its failure in restricting illegal mining in the state and ordered to take immediate steps in regulating it.

The instructions came after the Supreme Court passed an order directing the central empowered committee (CEC) to submit a report regarding the alleged illegal mining going on in some parts Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.

JAIPUR: Worried over the increasing threat of climate change on health, the state government has decided to integrate climate concerns into policy responses and interventions in the health sector.

The state will send the plan of action to the Centre for funding. In collaboration with the Energy and Resource Institute, the state government has prepared key strategies and mentioned that studies show that the state comes in the area of greatest climate sensitivity, maximum vulnerability and lowest adaptive capacity.
