Jaipur: A day after the massive fire broke out in Indian Oil Corporation depot on the outskirts of Jaipur, thick smoke clouds enveloped the nearby areas on Friday posing serious health hazards to people living in the vicinity.

Pune Fleet to be deployed only in Mumbai in first phase

The much-awaited eco-friendly Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses
will skip Pune, at least in the first phase of deployment. As many as 60 buses were to be rolled out in Pune after the assembly elections, Now, these buses are to start plying in Mumbai.

New Delhi: The hype surrounding ban on smoking at public places seems to have vanished into thin air. A recent survey shows that the ban has not been effectively implemented since it came into effect in October last year. The survey conducted by Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) found that over 60% of the bars and restaurants flouted anti-smoking rules.

In a bid to check the growing level of noise and air pollution, the district administration here has served show-cause notices on the managements of 28 government and private establishments for causing pollution in the town by running power generator sets without following the mandatory rules and regulations.

The authorities of a Buddhist temple in central Calcutta are up in arms over an open garbage vat in their backyard which they alleged the civic authorities had not been relocating despite repeated pleas.

Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharyya admitted that the vat needed to be shifted but asked temple officials to scout for an alternative space.
