उत्तराखंड में आई जल तबाही को ध्यान में रखते हुए अलकनंदा और भागीरथी नदी पर प्रस्तावित 24 पनबिजली परियोजनाओं के प्रभाव का अध्ययन करने के लिए केंद्र सरकार ने विशेषज्ञ समिति गठित कर दी है। यह जानकारी केंद्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में दाखिल किए गए ताजा हलफनामे में दी है। हालांकि, सरकार ने पर्यावरण और जैव विविधिता पर समग्र अध्ययन करके रिपोर्ट देने के लिए कोर्ट से 14 अप्रैल तक का समय और दिए जाने की मांग की है।
