To meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the state, the government is planning to build 5000 housing units immediately under a new scheme.
"Immediately we plan to take up a project at Gothapatana, on the outskirt of the city. The housing units will be built on 15-20 acres of land out of 100 acres identified there ", Injeti Srinivas, Secretary , Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department, said on the sideline of a state level workshop on Affordable Urban Housing of Odisha-2012.

Bhubaneswar: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pulled up the Odisha government for extending undue benefits to South Korean company Posco while allotting a plot in Bhubaneswar. The CAG, in its latest report on the general and social sector tabled in the state assembly on Saturday, has detected seven cases, including Posco’s 21.43 acre of land, where the Odisha government allotted land in “deviation of the land use zone and category of the land”.

BHUBANESWAR: The state government has asked the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) to finalize special regulations for installation of telecom towers in Bhubaneswar and other urban areas in the state within 15 days.

State housing and urban development (H&UD) secretary Injeti Srinivas, while reviewing the progress of the proposed regulation on February 28, has asked the BDA to expedite the finalization so that it can be sent to the H&UD for vetting and subsequent approval.

The solar lights, which will be installed in the stretch between Delta and OUAT square, would cost about Rs 1.14 crore. The Union ministry of new and renewable energy ( MNRE) will bear 30% of the project cost, said sources.
