The showers that lashed parts of India in the past week have led to a record rise in water levels at the 81 major reservoirs across the country, a report released on Thursday by the Central Water Commission said.

Reservoir levels rising, but storage below average

Power availability in the country is likely to improve in the coming days, as water levels in various reservoirs have started going up following the resumption of monsoon.

Even as the decrease in the rainfall amount has led to the improvement in the overall flood scenario of the State, barring Majuli River Island, there is a possibility of the postponement of the execution of the geo-tube retirement dyke at Matmara to the next dry season.
