April 22: At least 27 students of a senior secondary school in south Delhi were admitted to a hospital on Wednesday after they complained of uneasiness and pain.
The students had consumed school-provided midday meal that was allegedly prepared under unhygienic conditions, which resulted in food poisoning. The police has registered a case against unknown persons in the matter.

New Delhi: Thirty-two students of a Delhi government-aided school fell sick on Wednesday after consuming food served as mid-day meal. The police said they received a call around noon about the incident at Baba Nebhraj School in Lajpat Nagar I.

Malnutrition has assumed alarming proportions in the State but in spite of the grave situation government has not made significant efforts in this direction. Earlier Women and Child Development Department of the State had sanctioned a paltry sum of Rs 2.70 per day for a malnourished child and this amount could provide 600 Calories to the child.

NEW DELHI: Over 30 children of a government-aided school in the Capital fell ill after eating the mid-day meal on Wednesday. They were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital from where they were discharged after treatment. The incident took place at Baba Nebraj Secondary School in Lajpat Nagar when the children were served their mid-day meal of rice and daal around 10 a.m.

Ahmedabad: One child died and ten others were critical after they consumed spurious soft drink at Chainapura in New Ranip on Wednesday.

SHILLONG: The Centrally sponsored midday meal (MDM) scheme for school-going children has not been implemented in Meghalaya since October 2008 because of non-release of the State's quota of rice by the Union Government.

New Delhi: Even as it pledges to guarantee food for the vulnerable in its manifesto, the Congress-led government has on the sly tried one last ploy to push the case of contractors and middlemen in supplying nutrition to eight crore poor children under the Integrated Child Development Scheme.

Fast food and soft drinks may be fattening children but they are also making them merrier, a new study has found. One way of tackling childhood obesity effectively is to reduce their consumption of unhealthy food and drink, and keeping them happy in other ways, according to Hung-Hao Chang from National Taiwan University and Rodolfo Nayga, University of Arkansas.
