NEW DELHI, 27 FEB: In addition to raising its energy efficiency by 20 per cent in five years, India has decided to meet climate change challenges by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 to 25 per cent (of 2005 level) by 2020, the Economic Survey (ES) for 2010-2011 has revealed.

However, India is not sure of the resources required for achieving this domestic mitigation goal.

In order to strike a balance between environment and development, Rajasthan, like other states, is going to submit an action plan for climate change adaptation to the Union ministry of environment by March 31.
Speaking at a conference on Thursday, CM Ashok Ghelot said,

Evolutionary adaptation can be rapid and potentially help species counter stressful conditions or realize ecological opportunities arising from climate change. The challenges are to understand when evolution will occur and to identify potential evolutionary winners as well as losers, such as species lacking adaptive capacity living near physiological limits.
