Damodar Valley Corporation (appellant) has filed an appeal in the NGT against the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board order May 7, 2020 to submit the balance amount of environmental compensation of INR 48,08,000.00/- for the discharge of furnace oil by the unit into Damodar river October 15, 2019. An interim compensation of Rs. 1 crore was paid by the Damodar Valley Corporation.

Committee report on environmental compensation for the stone crushers in Nemakallu village, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh.

The Joint Committee constituted to look into the matter reviewed the information and other inputs received from the Health Department, Agricultural Department August 31, 2020 for damage assessment caused by stone crushers in Nemakallu village to the air quality, health issues and agricultural production loss in monetary terms, which has to be recovered from the stone crushers for operating without complying with the prescribed norms.
