MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Wednesday pushed for implementation of the Traffic Restraint Scheme (TRS) in the city, asking the government to try it out on an experimental basis in a very congested area for a month. The court also directed the government to get back to it in two weeks and state clearly whether it was willing to try out the idea.

June 4: Traffic snarls are increasingly becoming common at all important junctions in the city with the cash-strapped Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) unable to fund major infrastructure projects. Though flyovers and over- bridges were proposed at Amberpet, Uppal, LB Nagar, Kandikal Gate and Uppguda four years ago, those continue to remain on paper.

Much-needed CNG-powered buses will start plying on 40 designated routes in the city any time during the next financial year as the ground work for the launching of the scheme has been completed in all respects, according to well-placed city government officials.

During the day, if you feel like stepping out to the nearby mall for a cup of coffee, you can call the centralised number of your car pool provider and hitch a shared ride with the next car pool member going your way.

To encourage car polling to decongest the city roads, the government is to start collecting information from motorists about their travel needs and timings.
