Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding violation of environmental norms for the project of Wave City at Ghaziabad and High-Tech City at NOIDA, 06/01/2022

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Mahakar Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 06/01/2022. Issue for consideration is the remedial action against illegal cutting of trees, extraction of groundwater and construction without Environmental Clearance (EC) for the project of Wave City at Ghaziabad and High-Tech City at NOIDA by the project proponent (PP) M/s Uppal Chadha Hi Tech Developers Pvt. Ltd.

The matter was considered by the NGT in the last two years and the court had passed orders with respect to it.

The matter related to construction activities around the wetland area in Bengaluru, Karnataka - the city had a large number of lakes, but there is substantial extinction/disappearance due to encroachment, reclamation in the name of development.

The issue of ecological damage to the area between two lakes namely Kaikondarahalli Lake and Kasavanahalli Lake was taken by the NGT.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ram Baban Borkar Vs M/s. Paranjape Construction & Others dated 24/05/2021. The matter related to construction by PSC Pacific of a commercial complex 'Xion' mixed use development at Hingewadi, Pune, Maharashtra beyond the "validity period of the Environment Clearance (EC)" and that EC conditions were not adhered to. It was alleged that the project proponent had undertaken constructions in deviation of the approved plans. Further additional constructions had taken place without obtaining appropriate EC.
