Green economy scoping study for Jamaica

90 per cent of Jamaica's energy currently comes from imported petroleum, leaving the country vulnerable to external shocks. Improving energy efficiency and increasing the supply of renewable energy are vital to greening Jamaica's economy and making it more resilient, according to a new study released.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal construction for commercial purposes on the river bed of Ganga in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, 21/03/2016

The National Green Tribunal in the 38-page verdict on March 21, 2016 constituted a committee and asked it to submit a report regarding construction activities by Darrameks Hotels & Developers Private Limited on banks and the flood plains of river Ganga at village Singtali , District Tehri Garhwal, in Uttarakhand. The green tribunal also stated that the hotel authorities shall be liable to pay environmental compensation of Rs. 20 Lakh for violating the conditions set in the Consent to Establish issued by the Uttaranchal Environment Protection & Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) and for disturbing the immediate/direct catchment of the river Ganga by changing the drainage pattern through the use of JCBs for levelling the area.
