The industry is engaged in manufacturing synthetic and nylon based yarns and discharging untreated effluents into the river. The river in question meets Daman Ganga River which has been identified as a polluted river stretch by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

A report filed by CPCB says that the water quality is as per bathing standards upto Kosi barrage, Uttrakhand. The water quality deteriorates after confluence of the river Bhella in Muradabad and becomes highly polluted at Rampur where Rampur drain joins the river.
