Question raised in Lok Sabha on Crop Insurance Scheme, 03/05/2016. The number of farmers covered and claims paid to farmers under various Crop Insurance Schemes viz. National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS), National Crop Insurance Programme (NCIP) components namely, Modified NAIS (MNAIS) & the Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS), during last three years are given in Annexure-I. State-wise details of percentage of sown area covered under crop insurance schemes as against net sown areas during last three years is given in Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Compensation for Crop Loss, 03/05/2016. National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS), Modified NAIS (MNAIS) and Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme were implemented during Rabi 2012-13 season through Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) and 10 empanelled Private General Insurance Companies. Details of the business including claims reported under aforesaid Crop Insurance Schemes is at Annexure-I. United India Insurance Company Ltd. (UIIC) had not been empanelled to directly undertake Crop Insurance business.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Implementation of Crop Insurance Schemes, 11/03/2016. Cumulative State-wise details number of farmers covered under National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS) are at Annexure-I. On an average 12.44% and 2.17% of total cultivated area has been covered under NAIS (since Rabi 1999-2000) and MNAIS (Rabi 2010-11) respectively. Year-wise details are given in Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Review of Crop Insurance Schemes, 01/03/2016. Government of India has recently approved Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) which would replace the existing schemes of National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) & Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS) from ensuing Kharif 2016 season. All the major issues enumerated above have been addressed in the PMFBY. Salient features of the scheme are at Annexure-I. State-wise details of premium collected from farmers during last one year (i.e.
