India already has the uncomfortable honour of having the world's deadliest air. A Boston-based advocacy group's report called the Study of Global Air 2017 says over 1 million people had early deaths because of pollution in India and that India and China together accounted for half the world's total pollution deaths. Yet, just a few days ago, our environment minister went on record to say there's 'no conclusive data to establish direct correlation of death exclusively with air pollution'.

अमेरिका के बोस्टन में जारी की गई स्टेट ऑफ ग्लोबल एयर रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक साल 2015 में हमारे देश में ढाई लाख लोगों की मौत फेफड़े की बीमारी के कारण हो गई. देश में सड़क हादसे के मुकाबले वायु प्रदूषण से ज्यादा मौतें हो रही हैं. इसी साल 17 जनवरी, को एक और रिपोर्ट प्रकाशित हुई कि भारत में हर साल 12 लाख लोग वायु प्रदूषण से मारे जाते हैं. हालांकि विभिन्न रिपोर्टों में इस बारे में आंकड़े अलग-अलग हैं, लेकिन सबसे गौर करने वाली बात यह है कि दुनिया में 92 फीसदी आबादी ऐसी जगहों पर रहती है, जहां हवा सांस लेने लायक नहीं है.

Air pollution is taking the form of Epidemic as it is the 5th biggest reason of deaths in the country. The stats says that 80,000 people die due to air pollution in Delhi and Mumbai. Yearly, 10,000-30,000 are dying due to air pollution in Delhi. Daily approx 80 people die in Delhi.

Air pollution contributed to a total of 80,665 premature deaths of adults over 30 years in Mumbai and Delhi in 2015, a two-fold jump from 1995, according to a new study at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
