NEW DELHI: The sharp decline in revenue on account of falling sale of diesel in June on Friday prompted the Delhi Cabinet to approve a reduction in Value Added Tax imposed on it. As a result, the price of diesel would go down by Rs.2.50 per litre from July 20 and it would then start selling at Rs.37.60 per litre.

NEW DELHI: Power distribution company NDPL's proposal to set up a 1,000 MW power plant in the city has got the Union Government's green signal. The Central Government has agreed to sanction land to the discom for setting up of the gas-based plant in the outer parts of the city.

NDPL to give four CFLs in exchange for four working incandescent bulbs

The power distribution company North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) today said that it will give four compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) in exchange of equal number of working incandescent bulbs.

FUEL will become costlier on Friday. The empowered group on ministers (EGoM) on fuel pricing is expected to clear the proposal for a revision in the prices of petro goods at its meeting scheduled on June 25.

High humidity coupled with extreme temperatures has resulted power demand in the Capital rising to unprecedented figures. Monday recorded the highest ever peak power demand at 4,668 MW, surpassing the May 24 record of 4,581 MW.

Till last year, the dreaded peak power demand mark for the department was a humble 4,500 MW. This summer, however, this mark has been crossed several times already.
