According to the new medicine policy it will be ensured that medicines are made available in all hospitals. A people oriented strategy to wipe out malaria and dengue fever from the state would be prepared. Minimum number of transfers would be effected in medical department.

Three persons died of dengue while six others have contracted the disease in Chhattisgarh

MUMBAI: Another mosquito-borne disease is slowly making its presence felt in the city. The incidence of dengue, the viral disease spread by the colourful Tiger (Aedes Aegypti) mosquitoes, has been increasing. A number of doctors have observed that children, especially, are falling prey to the virus.

As many as 181 patients were tested positive in a dengue virus examination out of the 631 samples examined at various public and private sector laboratories over the eight days of this month, sources close to the health ministry said on Tuesday.

Such a big number of dengue positive cases indicates that the virus across the city is active.

The dengue epidemic which hit Sri Lanka last January is now under control and the death rate is zero. The number of dengue cases reported during the 36th week is only 49, the latest statistics of the Epidemiology Unit of the Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry says.

Sept. 8: After the swine flu havoc, cases of cholera, jaundice, malaria and dengue are on the rise. A confirmed case of chikungunya has also been reported in the city.
In all, 72 cases of cholera have been recorded in the city till September 7 compared to 64 in 2008 and 36 in 2007. Likewise, 45 cases of jaundice and 16 cases of dengue have also been reported.

Four cases of dengue fever, three in Patel Hospital Karachi and one in Sindh Government Hospital Saudabad, have been confirmed. Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed stated this on Monday. He said dengue surveillance cell is working in health department with Dr Tariq Shaikh as its focal person. "Health department is ready to cope with dengue virus in a better way as compared to last year," he added.

There have been 245 deaths recorded and 24,984 people infected from dengue this year as at on Wednesday, Epidemiology Unit said yesterday.

The highest number of dengue cases had been reported from the districts of Kandy, Gampaha, Colombo, Kegalle, Kurunagalla and Kalutara.

With the death of a Shajapur district-resident girl at a private hospital in Indore, the total number of dengue deaths in the Madhya Pradesh raised to eight in a month.

''Dengue symptoms were detected five days back in Class XII student Rukhsaar (17) who died yesterday,'' State Health Director Ashok Sharma said here today.
