More than 300 commercial units in Madhya Pradesh are causing pollution by emitting harmful air and water effluents beyond the permissible limits, the State Pollution Control Board has said.

In reply to an RTI query, the State Pollution Control Board gave details of about 313 such industries which flouted standard pollution control norms during 2009-10.

The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided not only to develop international infrastructure at the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Project Area but also make efforts for economic development of area near to DMIC.
Of 23 major and medium industries set up in the state worth Rs 1,111 crore, 14 industrial units have been set up in these area only, an official release said here today.

Under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project, Knowledge City will be established in Ujjain. Higher Education and Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma today chaired a high-level meeting and held discussions on the proposals received about the Knowledge City project.

Proposals will be sent to the state government for giving compensation for 17 thousand quintals of soyabean seeds lying stocked with seed production cooperative societies. This decision was taken at a meeting of Board of Directors of Seed Production and Marketing Federation which was chaired by Cooperative Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen.

The Chief Minister's drinking water scheme will soon be implemented in all villages with a population of 1000 and 500 for making available drinking water in these villages. Priority will be given to villages of predominantly populated by scheduled caste and scheduled tribe while implementing this scheme.

Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board is planning to establish biodiversity parks six districts of the State, with the aim for generating awareness among the public for significance and conservation of biodiversity. Proposals are also awaited for other districts of the State for establishing similar parks.

Drinking water supply is normal in 176 towns of the state while water is being supplied every other day in 111 other towns. According to information received from Urban Administration and Development department, position of drinking water supply in 26 district headquarters is normal and regular water supply is being made in these towns every day.
