THE Dharmapuri forest department officials have recovered eleven monitor lizards from the kitchens of two restaurants here on Thursday.

According to the forest ranger L Mahilan, a team of officials led by forester Sivasubramaniyam had intercepted two highway restaurants near Sogathur crossroad.

They reportedly found 11 monitor lizards that were kept in cages for cooking purpose.

It is an intense, but a lone battle, being fought in the non-descript classrooms of schools in remote and dusty villages in Salem and Dharmapuri districts against the emerging threat

CHENNAI: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide about Rs.800 crore more for the Hogenekkal Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project.

This tranche is for covering Hosur and adjoining areas of Krishnagiri district under the project, according to a senior official of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, which is the executing agency.
