Environmentalist Prof Rajendra Kerkar has requested farmers of Sattari taluka not to panic in the wake of a notification of the wildlife sanctuary.
“As many as 31 villages in Sattari come under this Abhiyaran and only uncultivated land of these 31 villages may be declared or brought under the Abhiyaran,” said Kerkar.

The government has zeroed in on an island in the Hebbal lake - which is already mired in controversies - for installing the Bhuvaneshwari statue at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
