Vasant Kunj residents have raised their voices against the government's "apathy" in constructing a flyover near a natural water body, Neela Hauz. The residents fear the flyover would render the water body dry. The residents want to monitor the construction of the flyover so as to save it.

The Lahore High Court has issued notices to the government and others and called for a report following a petition against increase in the compressed national gas (CNG) prices announced by the petroleum minister. The court will also order the government to implement the original increase. Consumer Amjad Ali Qasim argued that the minister petroleum had announced an increase of Rs 13 per kilogramme but the ministry issued a notification saying the actual increase was Rs 4.38 instead of Rs 13.

Hyderabad, July 14: The South Central Railway and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation have flung accusations at each other before the High Court over the acquisition of railway properties for road widening between Tarnaka and Sangeet theatre in the city. The Special Deputy Collector for Land Acquisition in GHMC had issued a notification for acquiring railway properties on May 30 this year. The SCR challenged the notification and the High Court stayed the notification till further orders.

Issuing the notices, Justice G.S. Sistani directed the respondents to file replies to the petition by September 6. The petitioner, Subhash Chand Jain, submitted that he ran an assembling unit of electrical goods at Shastri Nagar in North-East Delhi.
