May 10: Even as the city awaited the confirmatory tests on the presence of cholera in the city, it transpired that state health officials have flouted every rule in the book in treating cholera patients, and victims.

HYDERABAD: The health authorities on Saturday confirmed that 16 patients, who were admitted to the Fever and the Gandhi Hospitals here between May 5 and 6, have tested positive for cholera. Out of the 16 confirmed, 12 were from the Fever Hospital while the rest were admitted in the Gandhi hospital.

May 7: Nearly 100 fresh cases, mostly children suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea, were reported at various hospitals in the city on Thursday while some of the patients were refusing to leave the hospital despite being given the discharge slip. The principal secretary for health, Mr L.V. Subramaniam said:

According to health experts, water that has high E.coli content is unfit for human consumption. In all, seven persons have died and 300 others were hospitalised after drinking contaminated water supplied through pipelines in Bholakpur.

HYDERABAD: Two more persons, a 29-year-old passenger travelling from West Germany to Hyderabad and a 37-year-old self employed person, who came to Hyderabad from Canada on April 26, were admitted to the Government Chest Hospital, Erragadda, on Sunday with suspected symptoms of swine flu.
