Pune, November 24 Saturday's fire at Elkay Chemicals Pvt Ltd, could have led to a major disaster in the Pimpri-Chinchwad-Bhosari industrial belt housing nearly 5,000 small, medium and large industries.

THERE was panic in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Saturday afternoon, when thick smoke, visible from afar, snaked skyward in Bhosari area.

The cause was a major fire at ELKAY Chemicals Pvt. Limited and Shivam Industries. The fire that broke out at around 3.40 pm raged till 6.30 pm, when it was finally brought under control. No casualty was reported. But there were some injuries.
