Since last three days, the KMC has not sent its vehicles to dump garbage in landfill site in Sisdole and the transfer station in Teku has already filled up. "Due to lack of diesel, we cannot collect and transport the garbage. Municipal solid waste (MSW) management is considered to be one of the major problems being faced by municipalities in the developing countries around the world and National Capital Territory of Delhi in India is not an exception. Appropriate solid waste management of a city is crucial for public health and aesthetic surroundings. The objectives of the present study are to assess the strategies adopted by the various civic agencies for management of MSW and to determine the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the waste produced.
