SHILLONG, Feb 5: The Supreme Court (SC) today passed an interim order asking French cement giant Lafarge to stop carrying out mining for limestone in Meghalaya for its cement plant in Bangladesh saying mining in the eco-friendly region cannot be allowed.
Ahmedabad: To protest a proposed cement plant in Mahuva, farmers staged demonstrations at various places on SG Highway, from Judges Bungalow to Gujarat High Court on Thursday morning.
Police detained hundreds of farmers along with the sitting MLA from Mahuva Kanubhai Kalsaria. However, they were released later.
