GERUKAMUKH (Dhemaji), Sept 2: Thousands of people, including AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary and former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, today took part in a procession organized by the AGP in protest against the mega dam being constructed by the NHPC at the site of the Lower Subansiri hydroelectric power project at Gerukamukh in Dhemaji district.
Notwithstanding the controversy surrounding Lower Subansiri Hydro Power Project being executed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), a scramble has begun among power hungry States for allocation of power from the proposed project, even as the Union Power Ministry allocated power to Northern, Western and North Eastern Region from the Project.
