Unauthorized structures are against CRZ Regulations issued under Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

The matter related to the construction of anganwadi by Grampanchayat Shirki, Survey No. 152, village Bori, taluka Pen, district Raigad on land falling under CRZ-I. Construction of any kind is prohibited on land falling under CRZ-I as the area falls within 50 meters of the High Tide Line (HTL).

The NGT directed the state of Maharashtra to pay compensation of Rs. 12,000 crores for its failure to effectively address the issue of liquid waste/sewage and legacy waste. The amount of Rs. 12,000 crores has to be deposited within two months and is to be used for restoration measures.

Gogate Minerals was granted mining lease rights by the Maharashtra Government, November 6, 1971 for 20 years at village Tiroda, taluka Swantwadi, district Sindhudurg (then Ratnagiri) at survey nos. 22, 20, 27, 33, 38, 39, totaling  34.81 hectare. The lease was renewed, April 4, 2000 for further 10 years.
