In spite of there being strong opposition from various sections inside and outside India against the proposed Tipaimukh Dam Project, the Manipur state government of India has formulated special proposed vehicle (SPV) for speedy implementation of the project, said Imphal Free Press.

AGARTALA/IMPHAL April 30: Tripura Government has sounded an alert in the state to check an outbreak of the deadly swine flu, official sources said today. The decision to issue the alert was taken last night at a meeting chaired by principal secretary of the Health department Yash Pal Singh.Two health directors S R Debbarma and R K Dhar were also present at the meeting.
Plankton samples collected from Loktak Lake (a Ramsar site) during November 2002-October 2004 revealed 51 species of Cladocera belonging to 28 genera and 7 families. Loktak lake holds the richest Cladocera biodiversity known from any individual aquatic ecosystem of India, so far.
