Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Doaba Paryavaran Samiti Vs. State of U.P. & Ors. dated 07/08/2015 regarding groundwater pollution in the Districts of Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Samli, Meerut, Bagpath and Ghaziabad caused as a result of effluents being released under ground by reverse boring by the industries within these districts.

LUCKNOW: The groundwater level is going down alarmingly in western UP districts. Meerut has seen maximum depletion where the water table is going down by an average of 91cm annually.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Mahaganga Printpack Industries & Ors. Vs. State of Uttar Pradesh & Ors. dated 22/06/2015 regarding air pollution by burning tyres in the open and emanating black carbon by industries leading to severe damage of the health of the residents

The National Green Tribunal today imposed a ban on all illegal slaughter houses in Uttar Pradesh and directed state authorities to ensure there is proper regulation of meat shops.

The NGT reiterated that slaughterhouses in Ghaziabad, Hapur and Meerut that operate in the open will only be allowed to function after it obtains the necessary consent from relevant authorities.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Krishankant Singh Hoon & Anr. Vs. Union of India & Ors dated 12/05/2015 regarding slaughter houses running illegally in Uttar Pradesh and primarily relates to Gaziabad, Meerut and Hapur.

It was decided that:

The National Green Tribunal has sought response from Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) on unauthorised dairies running in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
