These parking lots will come up at Janakpuri (West), Rohini (West) and Pitampura Metro stations and tenders have been invited.

Bangalore: Admitting that there has been a delay in Rs 6395 crore 'Namma Metro' mass transport project, the new managing director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) N Sivasailam said the project is nine months behind schedule.

Hyderabad, July 6: Non-governmental organisations have demanded that government should obtain environmental clearance from the centre before taking the up metro rail project in Hyderabad. They said noise pollution would be much more throughout the day even at the silent zones such as schools and hospitals. According to them, the metro rail will cause more than permissible level of noise in city. The voluntary organisation "Concerned Citizen" on Sunday organised a debate on the subject in which both the representatives of NGOs and officials of Metro rail projects participated.

Mumbai, July 04 Making a pitch for Central funding of its ambitious Mumbai makeover projects, the state government has demanded that the Rs 2,356-crore first arm of the Mumbai Metro project be granted viability gap funding (VGF) by the Centre. According to senior government officials, in a recent meeting at the cabinet secretariat in New Delhi they had also demanded that the Union Ministry of Urban Development fund 35 per cent of the Rs 1,300-crore Mithi river clean-up project under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Writes To Centre To Sanction City Railway Network Rajiv Shah | TNN Gandhinagar: A realization has dawned on Gujarat government that the Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) is not enough to fulfil the mobility plans of mega-city Ahmedabad. A dormant plan for a Regional Rail System (RRS) is now being revived to provide additional transportation infrastructure for the city which is growing by leaps and bounds. The RRS plan was shelved after Delhi Rail Metro Corporation Ltd prepared a feasibility report for Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) in August 2005.

Speakers who participated at an open forum against the elevated Hyderabad Metro Rail project on Sunday expressed fear that the Rs 10,000-crore project turn into a real estate development scheme. Eminent architect from New Delhi, Mr Kuldip Singh, said the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was acquiring land across the city and handing it over to the Delhi metro rail.

The second metro tunnel at Hauz Khas was completed today at 11.30 a.m. The Delhi Metro has completed this project three weeks ahead of schedule. This construction of the tunnel had begun in February this year. The 1,453 metre long tunnel was completed just in four months. This tunnel is parallel to the first tunnel from Malviya Nagar to Hauz Khas, which was completed on May 31. The two tunnels will permit movement of Metro trains that will run on the Central Secretariat-Gurgaon section of Phase-II. The section would be opened to the public in 2010.
