In all, 147 students took ill after consuming food served under the mid-day meal scheme at the Yeshvantnagar Government Primary and High School at Sandur in the district. A lizard in the cooked food is said to be the reason for food poisoning.
For the first time, students from Std V to VIII will join their counterparts from Std I to IV, to relish pao bhaji, sheera and pulao as the Mid-Day Meal scheme is set to be implemented across the State, most probably from July 1.
