SHILLONG: The State Government will press the Centre to implement the midday meal (MDM) scheme from the current financial year (2009-2010) onwards at the meeting of the Programme Approval Board (PAB) in New Delhi on May 8.

The MDM scheme has not been implemented in Meghalaya since October 2008 because of non-release of the State's quota of rice by the Union Government.

April 22: At least 27 students of a senior secondary school in south Delhi were admitted to a hospital on Wednesday after they complained of uneasiness and pain.
The students had consumed school-provided midday meal that was allegedly prepared under unhygienic conditions, which resulted in food poisoning. The police has registered a case against unknown persons in the matter.

New Delhi: Thirty-two students of a Delhi government-aided school fell sick on Wednesday after consuming food served as mid-day meal. The police said they received a call around noon about the incident at Baba Nebhraj School in Lajpat Nagar I.

NEW DELHI: Over 30 children of a government-aided school in the Capital fell ill after eating the mid-day meal on Wednesday. They were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital from where they were discharged after treatment. The incident took place at Baba Nebraj Secondary School in Lajpat Nagar when the children were served their mid-day meal of rice and daal around 10 a.m.

NEW DELHI: Instead of initiating a fresh tendering process, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to extend its contract with eight voluntary organisations providing mid-day meal in its schools by another two years after reviewing their performance after one year of awarding the contract in April 2008.
