The National Green Tribunal (NGT), October 20, 2023 dismissed the appeal filed against the environmental clearance (EC) dated March 9, 2020 granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in favour of M/s. Oil India Ltd. (OIL) for the proposed Onshore Oil and Gas Development Drilling and Production in Mechaki area. The area would cover Mechaki, Mechaki Extension, Baghjan and Tinsukia Extension PMLs (Petroleum mining lease) in district Tinsukia, Assam by OIL.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of In re: News item published in The Hindu dated 27.03.2022 titled “Digging up the Chambal” dated 25/07/2023.

The grievance in the application is against illegal mining, taking place in periphery of Keoladeo National Park in Rajasthan near Dholpur, close to National Chambal Sanctuary (NCS) which is a habitat of rare species of animals particularly Gharial, roofed turtles and also river dolphins.

Judgment of the Supreme Court in the matter of In Re: T N Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 26/04/2023.

The Union of India had filed the application seeking modification/clarification of the order passed by the SC, June 3, 2022 (IA No 1000 of 2003 in WP (C) No 202 of 1995). The applicant (Union of India) was specifically seeking modification of the directions contained in paragraphs 56.1 and 56.5 of the order.

Reply affidavit filed by TSTRANSCO before the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Mahesh Mamindla & Others Vs State of Telangana & Others dated 20/03/2023.

The report stated that the space available between the ORR and service lane is approximately 2 meters at Mrugvani forest area. A storm water drain is also existing between the ORR and the service lane. TSTRANSCO had erected an approximately 1,458 km length line of 400 KV DC line from Kethireddypally-Rayadurg through forest land.
