In spite of the stiff opposition from the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the group of ministers (GoM) on ethanol today maintained status quo on its earlier decision by upholding a price of Rs 27 a litre for a mandatory 5 per cent blending with petrol.

This is against a price of Rs 21.50 per litre which prevailed between 2006 and 2009.

The Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, will on Wednesday inaugurate the three-day Solarcon 2010, to be hosted at HICC here, which will focus on issues relating to national solar mission.

NEW DELHI: In a bid to give a boost to production of solar energy, the Union government on Sunday roped in power finance bodies to finance new projects.

The Central Government will consider to including Bhopal, Jabalpur and Rewa under solar energy programme. The Central Government has already selected 60 cities in the country and Gwalior and Indore are included among them.

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission has proposed to start Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) under a new regulation and has notified a draft Solar Tariff Regulations which will be applicable from the current financial year.
