The Centre, on Monday, criticised the slow pace of reforms in urban project implementation in States and said it would not release further installments for projects financed under the ambitious Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) scheme, until reform milestones are met in totality.

The Union urban development ministry has approved a major interceptor sewer project for the Yamuna under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The Rs 1,358 crore interceptor project, which is the largest ever under JNNURM for Delhi, aims to trap untreated sewer in Najafgarh and Shahadra drains.

The Urban development ministry will look into the alleged irregularities in executing work under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).

New Delhi: As part of its wishlist for the Budget, the urban development ministry has sought excise duty waiver for buses purchased by the state governments under the stimulus package. On-road prices of these buses range from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 70 lakh. The excise duty on buses is 8% now.

With the Budget 2010-11 preparations in full swing, there is a growing realisation within the Manmohan Singh government that its flagship programmes, including the much-touted Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) are performing much below par with the ministries concerned in some cases not being able to spend half of their Plan allocation.

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is starting trial runs on the Gurgaon stretch of the Central Secretariat to HUDA City Centre line from January 29. The trial train will be flagged off by Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Urban development minister Jaipal Reddy.
