NEW DELHI: Union minister for environment Jairam Ramesh has proposed a common master plan for the Delhi zoo and adjoining Purana Qila. In a visit to the zoo on Monday to inspect Municipal Corporation of Delhi's work on sewer rehabilitation, the minister said both the places would benefit tremendously if they were integrated.
The problem of contaminated water and its back flow at Delhi Zoo would be sorted out by this year end, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh has said.

Panjim: In a sudden development, Taleigao Village Panchayat (TVP) has banned garbage from Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) from being dumped at its Taleigao site and reportedly posted security guards there, after conveying its decision to CCP on Monday.
About 10 trucks of excess garbage which could not be processed at CCP city composting unit were sent to Taleigao site.
The pulse polio drive, held by the civic body on Sunday, saw a slide in turnout with only 57.58% of the city's children under five years taking the oral vaccine.
The target this time was 9,44,661 children. However, only 5,43,936 children were brought for vaccination against polio, making the coverage over 2% less than that in the the last drive, which was conducted in March.
