PANJIM, MARCH 28 The North District Administration has flagged down cruise boat operations along River Mandovi for alleged noise pollution and has curtailed use of sound permits to a weekly basis.
Additional Collector Swapnil Naik disclosed that a monitoring station is being set up near Miramar where sound decibels would be checked and erring operators intercepted for violations.

Environment activist Subhash Dutta has written to the chief election commissioner, urging him to ask parties to abide by green norms during the campaign.

Dutta said that unless green norms were followed, the polls would leave in their wake around 1 lakh metric tonnes of non-biodegradable waste that would add to the pollution.

They have written to the government, saying the helicopters will break the noise pollution norms.
