BHUBANESWAR: The State Government is pressing the Centre to bring all the mines in the State under the control of Director-General of Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar.

The issue assumes importance as mines in the three districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh are still under the control of the Director-General of Mines Safety, Chaibasa in Jharkhand.

Dhanbad, Oct. 26: Union labour secretary P.K. Chaturvedi today said the Centre was serious about the safety of contract labourers in the mining sector and would take all possible steps, including framing laws, to ensure better facilities at work for them.
