Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday regarding the release of water to Chandigarh from the Phase V and VI of Kajauli. This comes as a fallout of the recent decision of the Punjab government to take up construction of Phase V and VI of Kajauli Waterworks exclusively for Mohali.

Complaining about the health hazard that the unauthorised dumping ground has turned into, residents of Sector 23 demanded on Friday that the site be shifted to some other area. Submitting a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, they also asked the Administration to stop dumping garbage in the area till then.
