Offers 50 pc subsidy to domestic users

Ludhiana : The Centre has asked the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) to switch over the Parliament House on solar energy for which the surveys have already been conducted.

PARLIAMENT on Tuesday passed the budget 2010-11 with the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee remaining firm and turning down all pleas for a rollback of increase in duties on fuel.

An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on fuel pricing is likely to meet after the current Parliament session to discuss freeing petrol, diesel and cooking fuel prices from the government control.

At present, petrol was sold at a discount of Rs 6.63 a litre and diesel at a deficit of Rs 6.25 per litre, an oil ministry official said here.
