Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was employed to obtain morphology, size, composition, and mixing state of background aerosols with diameter less than 1 µm in the northern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP) during 15 September to 15 October 2013. Individual aerosol particles mainly contained secondary inorganic aerosols (SIA – sulfate and nitrate) and organics during clean periods (PM2.5 mass concentration less than 2.5 µg m−3 ).

This volume of the IARC Monographs provides an evaluation of the carcinogenicity of outdoor air pollution. Outdoor air pollution is a complex mixture of pollutants originating from natural and anthropogenic sources, including transportation, power generation, industrial activity, biomass burning, and domestic heating and cooking.

Transport sector has always been a significant contributor in emission estimates of cities. The source apportionment studies conducted in the six major cities of the country have shown that transport has significant contributions in PM2.5 and NOx concentrations.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Level of air pollution in Delhi, 30/11/2015. As per the data provided by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), the levels of eight pollutants during 10th to 20th November, 2015 are summarized as given in this document.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Air Pollution in metropolitan cities, 30/11/2015. The National Ambient Quality Standards (November 2009) comprises of 12 pollutants, namely, PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2, O3, CO, NH3, Benzene, lead, Arsenic, Nickel, BaP (particulate phase).

Air pollution is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and women with diabetes may be more susceptible to its effects than others, a long-term US study said Wednesday.

This year, the CPCB has attempted to coordinate monitoring of ambient noise levels at more than 200 locations and ambient air quality at about 170 locations across the country. The compiled data shall be published as CPCB does every year. In Delhi, Ambient Noise was monitored at 16 locations and Ambient Air Quality at 09 locations. The monitoring was carried out on November 05, 2015 to compare the data of Deepawali day.

In some areas level of harmful particles in the air were 56 times the levels considered safe by the World Health Organisation

Recent studies have shown that exposure to particulate black carbon (BC) has significant adverse health effects and may be more detrimental to human health than exposure to PM2.5 as a whole. Mobile source BC emission controls, mostly on diesel-burning vehicles, have successfully decreased mobile source BC emissions to less than half of what they were 30 years ago. Quantification of the benefits of previous emissions controls conveys the value of these regulatory actions and provides a method by which future control alternatives could be evaluated.

Beijing said on Monday that it will further strengthen supervision and promote clean energy for heating in an effort to reduce winter air pollution.
