April 8: The irrigation department has finally decided to call a single tender for the Polavaram project after realising the mistake it committed five years ago.
Five years ago, the department divided the works into three packages and awarded it to two consortia. But the successful bidders failed to complete the works within the stipulated time.

April 1: The Praja Rajyam party of East Godavari district has decided to launch a massive campaign in favour of the much awaited major irrigation project in the state, the Polavaram project.

Visakhapatnam, March 23: Laying out full details of the Indira Sagar Polavaram project in presence of civil engineers here on Tuesday, retired executive engineer S. Nageswara Rao urged that pressure should be brought upon various agencies to take up the project on a war-footing and complete it by 2015.
