Kasinathan Vs Ministry of Environment & Forest dated 05/07/2016 regarding construction of a commercial property in R.S.No.283/2, T.S.No.15, 16,17, 18, 19, 20, 22 (part) and 23 of Ward – F, Block – 1 at Old Puducherry Road of Puducherry Revenue Village.

NGT in its order to the Puducherry Pollution Control Committee said that the plastic and other inert materials like glass and ceramics are to be removed apart from all other existing waste totally. This act shall be completed expeditiously in any event within a period of eight weeks from the date of Order. After completing the said process, the Pondicherry Government shall take all necessary steps for afforesting the site with suitable tree species so that the site is totally reclaimed. Application stands disposed of. 

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone, Chennai) in the matter of Puducherry Environment Protection Association Vs Union of India & Others dated 22/02/2016. The prayer in this application is to issue permanent injunction restraining the respondents from withdrawing or permitting the withdrawal of water from Oussudu lake for any drinking water project in violation of the Wetland (Conservation of Management) Rules 2010, the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, the Environment (Protection) Act 1986 and the Biological Diversity Act 2002.
