LUCKNOW: In a bid to propel expansion in power sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has accorded status of industry to all new power projects coming up in the state. A proposal to this effect was cleared by the State Energy Task Force (ETF) at its meeting presided over by chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta here on Wednesday.

Ranchi, June 16: To gauge the seriousness of investors in a state under central rule, a review of industry proposals, particularly in the steel, power and cement sectors, is on the cards.

Industry secretary A.P. Singh will hold the meeting with representatives of some 40 companies on June 19 and 21 at Nepal House.

Hyderabad, June 16: Twenty-five per cent of the power generated by the 1040 MW power plant of the Hinduja Group at Visakhapatnam will be given to the APTransco while the remaining 75 per cent will be sold in the open market.

APTransco has approved this proposal and has sent it to the government for ratification.

New Delhi: Reliance Industries (RIL) has firmed up its plans to enter the power sector. Sources said the company will bid for two ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) in Chhattisgarh and Orissa. In addition, it is also likely to bid for the 2,000-MW Bhadravati project of the Ispat group in Maharashtra.
