The Jindal Power Limited is directed to refer to this Ministry's letter of even no. dated 31st March, 2009 prescribing the Terms of Reference for 4X600MW coal based power project at Tamnar in district Raigarh in Chhattisgarh for undertaking detalied EIA study.

Letter requesting the Secretary (Environment), Government of Chhattisgarh, to take action against the Jindal Power Limited (JPL) by invoking powers under Section 19 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 for commencing construction of 4X600MW power project at Tamnar in district Raigarh in Chhattisgarh without obtaining prior environmental clearance.

With a view to assess the environmental impacts due to the proposed coal based power plant of 1320 MW in Raigarh district, JSWEl availed the services of M/s Vimta Labs ltd, Hyderabad to prepare EIA report for various environmental components including air, noise, water, land and biological components along with parameters of human interest which may be affected and to prepare an EMP for mitigating
