Additional affidavit on behalf of Raja Muzaffar Bhat regarding large scale pollution caused by discharging untreated sewage as well as dumping of municipal solid waste unscientifically in river Doodh Ganga and Mamath Kull in Srinagar and Budgam districts, Jammu & Kashmir.

The applicant has listed some points with regard to the present status of the river Doodh Ganga and Mamath Kull despite specific directions passed by the NGT. Raja Muzaffar Bhat said there has been no installation of sewage treatment plants on river Doodh Ganga stretch.

Grievance in the application is against unscientific dumping of solid waste and bio-medical waste in the area falling between Sher-EKashmir Bridge (NG 144A) and the confluence of Poonch river and Belar nala, near Poonch town, Jammu & Kashmir. Such dumping of waste has harmful impact on river Poonch which is a source of drinking water in the area. The authorities have failed to take remedial action inspite of representations.

The NGT, August 12, 2022 after observing that no replenishment study was conducted for the minor mineral blocks (reserved and allotted for mining river bed minerals) in Shalliganga nalla of district Budgam have restrained the mining activity from the said minor mineral blocks.

The appeal has been preferred against grant of Environmental Clearance (EC) for minor mineral block No. 4, Panzan Bridge to Trumbi Bagh (Lalgam), downstream Shaliganga Nallah, village Lalgam, tehsil Chadoora, district Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
