Jamshedpur, July 21: The management board of District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) today put a seal on various development projects meant for rural areas of East Singhbhum in the next three years.

Prime Minister Man-mohan Singh is likely to appoint a panel, comprising members of Parliament, to examine the implementation of the Rs 7,266-crore Bundelkhand package, allocated to drought-hit districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Lack of broader supervision and close scrutiny of the works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) by the National Rural Roads Development Agency (NRRDA) has led to inferior quality of road works under the Centrally-sponsored projects in Uttar Pradesh.

Assam, along with other northeastern States, have slipped in implementation of majority of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development. This has emerged during the review of the performance of its flagship programmes by the Ministry on Friday.

The Ministry of Rural Development has convened a two-day meeting of the Performance Review Committee here at the ICAR Conference hall.
