To set up solar power plants

NEW DELHI: The North Delhi Power Limited and Tata BP Solar have joined hands to set up solar power plants in Delhi including rooftop ones that will be connected to the electricity grid.

As the United States takes its first steps toward mandating that power companies generate more electricity from renewable sources, China already has a similar requirement and is investing billions to remake itself into a green energy superpower.

Controversial regulatory reforms in the environment sector found their way into the Economic Survey too. The report recommended that housing and real estate sector be taken out of the purview of the central environmental clearances regime.
