Order of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone, Chennai) in the matter of Alavikutty Vs State of Kerala & Others dated 16/11/2016 regarding pollution of Tirur Ponnani river, Malappuram district, Kerala. Mangalam Grama Panchayath is taking action to clean the banks of the river and to plant trees on the river side under NREGS. It is also stated that no coconut husk unit is f unctioning in the Panchayath causing pollution to the Tirur Ponnani River.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Manushyavakasa Samrakshana Sangham & Others Vs State of Kerala & Others dated 11/08/2016 regarding quarrying operations carried out in Kalanjoor Grama Panchayat, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. NGT finds that in the light of the various reports filed by the statutory authorities, it is clear that the quarrying operations carried on by the said respondents are well within the conditions prescribed under the EC.
